Sunflower Show

Just before I left South Africa to move to Ireland, I took my Mom out one last time for tea and cake. She was by then already wheelchair-bound, so I took her to Madeleine’s Cafe at Assagay near Hillcrest outside Durban. We were able to park the car next to the play area and garden, so I ordered our drinks and eats, and took photos of the flowers on the tables while I waited for the order. The beautiful cheery sunflower belied the fact that this was going to be one of the hardest days of my life, saying goodbye to my Mom.
