Description
My husband and I spent a night in March at the Royal Marine Hotel in Dún Laoghaire Town.
It was Easter 1989 when I was last in Dún Laoghaire while visiting my favourite Aunt Judy in Dublin during my AFS Exchange Year in Luxembourg. She and I had corresponded my whole life, and it was so exciting to finally meet her in person. Returning more than 30 years later with my husband was truly special.
I couldn’t believe how developed it had become. Despite the miserable winter weather, we took a long walk out on the pier. I loved seeing the people out and about and two ladies walking together, charring away, with their reflections on the wet promenade, became the inspiration for Friendship on Dún Laoghaire Pier.
